June 8, 2004 Employment data from The Bureau of Labor Statistics is updated to March 2004. See "Labor Force" links for individual counties, monthly unemployment rate for Scranton Wilkes-Barre Hazleton, or BLS data download form. County and Regional unemployment charts now cover the period from 1993 thru 2003.
June 6, 2004 MAP Center Office Closing - Due to budget cutting at the College, the Center will not operate after June 30, 2004. This Web site will continue to function as a public service for the forseeable future.
March 17, 2004 Posted the latest revisions of the Downtown Shoppers' Guide and Kings' Community Outreach maps.
March 9, 2004 Finally did a study of Gerrymandering in Pennsylvania. It shows the results of using GIS for political purposes and introduces a way to "measure" the compactness of a geographic unit.
November 13, 2003 The King's GIS section of the site has a new look. It was introduced in November 2000 as part of National GIS Day. The new material was prepared to commorate GIS Day 2003.
November 11, 2003 Updated King's GIS EnviroMapper links. This "venerable" application was developed in cooperation with the EPA when it first experimented with links to live maps in late 1999.
October 27, 2003 Latest revison of Diamond City Partnership maps. Adds block in the southwest corner of downtown, shows new street configuration at King's College and has updated building category data.
August 20, 2003 We revised and updated the marketing section of Community, added a Delaware Highlands page and linked the Diamond City Partnership page to the organization's new Web site.
August 14, 2003 Added a section in Community describing the MAP Center's work with the Pennsylvania Economy League to produce voting district maps for the Luzerne County Government Study Commission.
August 8, 2003 Since Nancy Anderson-Keil is producing all the GIS products for the Bear Creek Village Comprehensive Plan we link to her Web site, GISMapDesign.com, so you can view the latest material.
August 7, 2003 Added a section in Community describing the MAP Center's part in the Wilkes-Barre Voting District project initiated by the Wilkes-Barre Districting Commission in September 2002.
May 28, 2003 Unemployment charts for the region and each county are updated and now cover the period from 1992 to 2002. The labor force chart on the page linked above is updated to show 2002 figures.
May 15, 2003 Updated Bear Creek Village Comprehensive Plan Overview and added recent material on the plan's goals and objectives.
February 20, 2003 New section - Regional Thematic Maps. We combined county thematic map themes, Census SF3 data and our business map display method to produce this very informative (and spiffy) presentation.
February 13, 2003 New County Thematic Maps based on the 2000 Census Long Form (SF3) data. Maps are accessed from each county's main page, the county selector or the Site Map. Previous series data is linked to individual county thematic map pages.
Jan. 31, 2003 New maps for US Congressional, State Senate and State Representative Districts. Each section contains an information table with links to the delegates' Web sites.
