Digital Raster Graphic Overlay

The digital form of a USGS topographic map is called a digital raster graphic (DRG). The image above results from combining the DEM, hillshade and DRG along with river and municipal boundary lines for emphasis. The result is a pleasing, artistic map which captures the "feel" of the mapped area. [Back to pictorial guide main page]
