Bear Creek Village - Comprehensive Plan - Spring 2002
Land Use Zones

The MAP Center has converted all the original CAD survey data into GIS data layers in order to integrate it with other data sets. This provides context for the data and more importantly, facilitates calculations and predictions that are needed for comprehensive planning.

The map to the right shows minimum parcel size and land use as a percent of total Borough area. It illustrates one calculation (area) that GIS can deliver.

Enhanced Terrain Model

Our new terrain models are based on 10 meter digital elevation model (DEM) data. It produces smoother surfaces than the previous 30 meter DEMs.

The image to the right illustrates boundary and terrain data combined to produce a more realistic view of the subject.

* PDF - portable document format - a widely used method of providing scalable data over the Internet. The maps are designed to be enlarged without losing focus.

**For reasons beyond our control, terrain model pdf files will not render the relief map in a browser unless it is first saved to your computer. We are pursuing a solution but in the meantime feel the information is worth the extra step of downloading the file and then viewing it. [More on pdf software]
